All Ireland Juvenile T&F 2017
Day one and two of the Juvenile Track and Field Championships took place in Tullamore at the weekend. Clare athletes were again in top form with many outstanding performances including Ava Rochford Ennis Track’s, record breaking leap in the Girls U 13 High Jump with a Championship Best Performance of 1.55m.
The Munster U13 to U19 indoor championships 2017 were held in Nenagh, Co Tipperary, at the weekend. The championships again attracted large numbers of athletes from every corner of the province and Clare was again very ably represented. Records began to fall from the outset with Ronan Walsh, Shannon AC, Ava Rochford and Ailbhe Doherty Ennis track, all achieving Championship Best Performances.
The All Ireland Juvenile B cross country championships were held in artic conditions at Waterford IT on Sunday. It didn't take long for things to heat up though with some great racing on a very testing course. Clare athletes again punched above their weight bringing home numerous Club, County and individual medals. more here...
Munster Sport Star Awards 2016
The Munster Athletic Association Sports Star Awards 2016 were held in the Clonmel Park Hotel, Clonmel, on Saturday last. Clare were well represented taking a total of 6 awards on the night. Athletes to grace the red carpet were, Darragh Miniter St Marys AC, Kate Taylor St Cronans who both received the Juvenile Indoor and Track and Field Award and Seamus McMahon Shannon AC who received the Under 23 Indoor and Track and Field award. Emily Cahill, St Cronans, received the Juvenile Cross Country Award while our clubs wer also well represented with Ennis Track taking the Best Juvenile/ Senior/ Masters Cross Country and Road Club and Kilmurry Ibrickane North Clare received the Best Juvenile B Cross Country Club Award. Well Done to all involved and Best Wishes for the 2017 season.

The purpose built Sport Ireland Cross Country Course say its first National event on Sunday in Abbotstown Dublin. Conditions were perfect with Clare athletes again showing their talent helping Club, County & Provence to medal success.
The Munster Juvenile uneven ages, Junior and Senior cross country championships were held at Limerick Race Course on Sunday. Underfoot conditions were testing to say the least with slips, falls and missing spikes the order of the day, but yet again Clare athletes showed their class bringing home numerous individual, club and county medals.

Munster Juvenile Inter County Cross Country Relays 2016
Congratulations to our County Cross Country relay teams, and Junior female athletes, who competed in Enniskeane, Cork on Sunday Feb 7'th, in what could only be described as appaling conditions. The course held up well considering the rain fall of late and all Clare athletes accuited themselves well on the day. Results available here...

The Clare AAI Indoor Championships will take place in Nenagh on Sunday January 31'st. Please note High Jumps start at 10.00 sharp with track events getting under way on the outside track at 11.00.
The inside track for Hurdles will commence immediately High Jumps are finished going on last year this should be about 12.45.
Clubs are requested to forward entries and fees To Vincent Mc Carthy as soon as possible so we can put them all on the computer system, Please don’t leave it till the last minute.
Please note there will be an admission charge of €5.00 for adults at the door.

CLARE WELL PLACED AFTER ROUND ONE
The First round of
the Glo-Health National League took place in Templemore last sunday, and a
focused and determined Clare team were eager to make up for the disappointment
of missing out on last year’s final. Clare squared up against Togher, Dooneen,
Kilkenny City Harriers, An Riocht and Wexford County.
Clare athletes were in outstanding form at the National Championships in Tuam on Sunday last taking home two individual titles, five County Gold team medals, two County team silver medals, three Club gold team medals and three club bronze medals medals along with a host of other athletes in the top twelve places. Huge crowds turn out for the Clare AAI Indoor Championships 2015 held in Nenagh on Sunday January 25'th.
Another great day in Nenagh with fantastic competition in all events. The high jumps were again well supported and with up to 5 heats in some races, entries were again up on previous years. 47 Juvenile Records were set this year, a testament to the fantastic work being done in Athletics in Clare across all Clubs. The County Board would like to acknowledge and Thank all officials who helped make the day another great success.
The Annual Clare AAI Sports Star Awards for 2014 were held in the Auburn Lodge Hotel Ennis on Friday night. There was a very large turn out for the event to honour both our Juvenile and Senior athletes, with 49 awards presented on the night by Munster Chairman Mossie Wolfe.
A fantastic night was had by all and the County Board would like to thank all who attended for making this yet another memorable night!

county relays which are being held in Waterford IT on January 11th
were held at Lees Road on Saturday last in ideal conditions, All clubs were
well represented with some very closely contested races. the top five athletes

The National Novice and Juvenile Uneven Ages were held in Santry in very testing conditions on Sunday. Underfoot conditions were slippy and a tight course added to the difficulty. However, Clare athletes again acquitted themselves very well, results are available Here...

The Clare Athletics Association Juvenile Track and
Field Championships were held over two days at the Lees Road Sports Complex. These Championships were held on Saturday in very wet conditions with Sunday again
another damp day. Over 300 athletes took part over
both days and there were many star performances. The Munster
Juvenile Track and Field Championships for U/9’s to U/13’s will take
place on the 7th and 8th June at the Lees Road Sports
Complex and the U/14’s to U/19’s on Saturday and Sunday 28th and 29th
June.

Two Clare athletes smash National Records at the awsome AIT Indoor arena at the weekend...
On Saturday, Gearoid McMahon broke the U15 1000m walk record by 3 seconds, finishing in a time of 4:20; while on Sunday, Alex O'Neill broke the U15 800m record, also by 3 seconds, in a time of 2:16.
Athlete of the weekend, Tony Odubote, brought home a haul of 3 medals; Gold in the U15 60m, Silver in the U15 Long Jump and Bronze in the U15 60m Hurdles. Also taking Gold in a fantastic U16 1500m race, Aisling Kelly who led from the gun, destroyed the field finishing in a time of 4:55. Also, in the boys U16 1500m, Eoin O'Looney took Silver finishing in a time of 4:20. Finishing a trio of brilliant 1500m races, Laura Power also took Silver finishing in a time of 4:51 in the Girls U19. Also taking Silver in the U19 Triple Jump, Rachel Clancy jumped 9:61.
In the U12 600m a fantastic race from Ellie Pike brought home the Silver medal in a time of 1:51 while Gabriel Kehinde took Bronze in the U14 60m's in a time of 7:97.
Well Done to all Clare Athletes who competed so well over the two days showing that Clare Athletics is in a very strong position..
The Clare AAI Indoor Championships were held on Sunday January 26'th in Nenagh. A huge turn out of over 400 juvenile athletes helped make this one of the most successful County Championships yet with great excitement evident in all athletic disciplines.

Two Gold for Clare Athletes in the Inagural Spring Throws Competition in Athlone IT.
Clare
athletes took 1st & 2nd in the Discus at the Inagural Spring Throws
competition held in Athlone IT on Sunday. Eoin Hanrahan from Ennis
Track took Gold in the 1.5kg Discus with a throw of over 38m in very
testing throwing conditions with a very strong wind and "Spring"
showers. Seamus McMahon from Shannon AC took Silver in the same
competition with a throw of 34.85m.
Seamus then went on to take Gold in the 5kg Hammer competition throwing a PB of 43.48m in the process.
The 2013 Woodies Juvenile Indoor Championships took
place in Athlone this weekend. Day 2 has concluded with fantastic
results from our talented Clare Athletes bringing home a Total of 12
Medals, 8 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze.
Performer of the Chamnpionships has to go to Tony Odobute of Ennis Track who brought home 2 Golds and a Silver from the weekend!
Congratulations to Niamh Conlon, Kilmihil, winning Bronze in the U12 girls 60m with Ben Whelehan, Kilmurry Ibricane North Clare, also taking Bronze in the U12 boys 600m.

The Clare Athletics
Association Juvenile Track and
Field Championships were held at the Nenagh Indoor Arena Sports Complex on
Sunday with over 370 athletes taking part. There were many star performances ahead
of the Munster Juvenile Track and Field Championships indoors for U/9’s to
U/19’s in a few weeks time in Nenagh.
In the Girls U/9’s, a great treble recorded by Caoimhie Cahill St
Cronans and in the boys U/9’s, a double going to Daire Killeen of Fergus AC,
with Conor Meaney also Fergus AC taking double gold in the boys U/10’s 60m and
200m.
Sultan Akinwale Ennis Track took three gold medals in the boys U/11’s
60m, 300m and Long Jump and in the girls U/12’s a double gold to Niamh Conlon
Kilmihil with Shane Harrison St Cronans taking double gold in the boys U/12’s

Gabreil Kehinde Ennis Track took double gold in the boys U/13’s with
Alex O Neill St Cronans also taking a treble in the girls U/14’s 60m, 800m, and
Long Jump. In the Boys U/14’s. a treble to Tony Odubote Ennis Track with
Angaharad Loughnane Marian taking double gold in the U/15’s Shot Putt and
1000metres Walk. The boys U/15’s saw double gold go to Cathal O Brien Ennis
Track in the 60mhurdles and 60metres.
The Boys U/17’s again saw double gold going to Paraic Mc Namara, Marian,
and Ronan Barry Marian while in the girls U/19’s, double gold went to Laura
Power Ennis Track and Emer Hillery Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare. In the boys
U/19’s double gold went to Conor Foley Ellis Kilmihil and Jack Carrig Shannon
AC.

The Clare AAI County Sports Star Awards 2012 were held in the Auburn Lodge Hotel Ennis on Friday January 11'th.
Special
Guest on the night was Munster Chairman Mossie Woulfe and a fantastic
night was had by all following the presentation of the awards.
Receipient of the Overall West County Hotel Award was Ennis Tracks very
own Sean Wheelan.

National Inter County Cross Country & Even Ages U12 to U18 Plus Senior
& Junior Cross Country Championships were held in Tattersalls, Ratoath, Co
Meath on Sunday November 25’th. Conditions were extremely heavy under foot but
the weather stayed dry at least! There were some fantastic individual, Club and

Four Clare athletes from 4 Clare Schools represented the Munster schools on Saturday, 23rd June,
in Santry at the Interprovincial Tailteann games.
Seamus Mc Mahon (St
Caimins, Hammer & Discus), Fergal Conlon (St Josephs, Walk) Eoin Hanrahan (St Flannans, Shot Putt & Discus) and
Alice Akers (Scarriff CC, Hammer & Discus) all competed well in their individual events
on the day. Alice Akers once again came out on top with Gold and a new
record of 50.32m in the Hammer event; 4 of her 5 throws surpassing the
previous record of 48.39m from 2008.
Alice's 2012 path to the
interprovincials included smashing long standing records in the North
Munsters, Munsters and All Irelands which were all previously held by
her sister Rachel. She also won bronze in the Discus event with a
personal best of 32.96m.
To top the day the Clare athlete was awarded
the prestigeous Father Longergan trophy for best athlete. The final
international schools competition will take place in Kent, England July
21st where the Scarriff student will represent Ireland against Scotland,
England and Wales in the Hammer event.

There was an excellent turnout at the Throws Workshop in Lee’s Rd., Ennis on
Thursday February 16th.
Coaching in Javelin, Shot, Discus & Hammer was provided by
expert throws Coaches. David Courtney in javelin, Jerry Horgan in shot
and discus, while the hammer coaching was given by Rachel & Brian
Akers.
Athletes and Coaches from Clare, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, Limerick, Galway & Leitrim attended!
The session was varied with athletes trying different
disciplins, and plans are a foot to make these workshops a more frequent
event.
